Background

After years of interest in spirituality, pursuing spiritual studies and development, I formally enrolled in seminary in 1992. In 1997 I was ordained through Light of Christ Community Church and the International Council of Community Churches.  I graduated from Sancta Sophia Seminary the same year.  Sancta Sophia offers study in ageless wisdom, esoteric/mystical Christianity, and great world religions. The seminary's focus on spirituality is reflected in my interfaith ministry and inclusive approach.  After ordination in 1997, I continued to work in my marketing and communications career  while performing ceremonies on weekends. By 2002, ministry and ceremonies happily became my primary focus.

Ceremonies & Consulting

The core of my ministry is officiating ceremonies and consulting. Taking time to celebrate and honor brings happiness, peace and depth to our lives. As a consultant, I offer my expertise in ceremony design, as well as collaborating with clients to create a personalized experience.  It is a gift and privilege to assist with and share in such meaningful and significant events in people's lives.

End of Life, Hospice & Spiritual Care

In addition to ceremonies, a significant focus for my work and service is hospice, providing spiritual care for patients and families, grief support, and sacred ritual at end of life. I am an Allina Hospice volunteer and also offer independent hospice visits through my ministry. I work closely with families in planning celebrations of life, memorials and funerals.

I am a partner in Willow LLC.  We focus on education, consulting and resources to help individuals and families navigate the many choices for traditional and home funerals.  Through individual consulting and education for small groups, our goal is to help people create personalized, meaningful end-of-life experiences. As of August 1, 2010, there are new laws in Minnesota which allow families to provide more direct care for their loved ones.  Willow LLC is a new endeavor and I will share more about it on the End of Life page in the near future.
